NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Employees at the Department of Corrections are mourning the loss of one of their prison guards, who was shot and killed near her home.
Officer Dalia Gutierrez-Sanchez, 43 was found shot to death in the parking lot of her apartment complex on Wallace Road in Nashville Friday morning around 4:30 a.m. Police said robbery is a possible motive since her purse was taken. Gutierrez was a six year veteran who worked at the Riverbend Maximum Security prison.
"We are saddened by Officer Gutierrez's death. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family. We are confident the Metro Police Department will do everything possible to bring the person or persons responsible for her death to justice," said Commissioner Derrick D. Schofield.
