NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Hundreds of runners were downtown for the first Titans Back to Football 5K run.
The race began at LP Field Saturday around 7:30 a.m. and benefited the charity Girls on The Run, which is an organization that offers after-school programs to get girls excited about running and living a healthy life style.
Mayor Karl Dean kicked off the race where more than two-thousand people were expected to participate. Their registration fee goes to charity along with a ticket to one of three Titans' home games.
Road closures were expected to last throughout Saturday morning around the downtown area. The runners' route headed over the Woodland Street Bridge, around to Union Street toward 3rd Avenue South and then onto Korean Veterans Boulevard.
A kids half mile run followed the main race at nine a.m.
