Tennessee WR Hunter Starts Return With Tough Test

Posted: Updated:

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - In his first game back from a torn anterior cruciate ligament, Tennessee wide receiver Justin Hunter faces perhaps the toughest test he will encounter all season.

Tennessee's season opener Friday against North Carolina State at the Georgia Dome matches Hunter against an experienced Wolfpack secondary that features cornerback David Amerson, who led the nation with 13 interceptions last year.

Hunter caught 17 passes for 314 yards and two touchdowns last year before tearing the ACL in his left knee in the third game of the season. He was leading the SEC in receiving yards per game before his injury. Hunter says he now is back at 100 percent, but Tennessee coach Derek Dooley cautions that the long layoff could affect the Vols' star receiver early in the season.
