Baptist Press Counters Bill Nye’s Video On Creationism

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- After famed scientist Bill Nye released a video this week slamming creationism, the local Baptist Press office has released a video countering Nye's claims.

The YouTube video, released Friday, cited two PH.D scientists challenging Nye's use of the term evolution and refuting his claims. The two scientists, David Menton and Georgia Purdom, said that while many scientists agree with evolutionary changes, they deny the materialistic Darwinian evolution.

"We need to understand in the video that Bill Nye is confusing observational science with historical science," Purdom said.

Purdom went on to explain that since evolution is considered a historical science, it cannot be compare to the observational science that can be observed, tested and recreated.

Nye's video, titled "Creationism Is Not Appropriate For Children", has amassed more than 3 million hits on Youtube. In the video Nye said that teaching children creationism does them a disservice.

"The idea of deep time of billions of years explains so much of the world around us. If you try to ignore that, your worldview becomes crazy, untenable, itself inconsistent," Nye said in the video.
