NASHVILLE, Tenn.- After a
month of training camp, four preseason games, and a slew of roster cuts, the
Titans turn the page to the regular season and now have one week to prepare for
their season opener against defending AFC Champion New England.
The Titans finished the
preseason 3-and-1 after rallying to beat the Saints 10-6 on Thursday night. Now
the team will try to carry over that momentum into games that really count.
Head Coach Mike Munchak
says there's an excitement in the locker room heading into his second season.
"You're excited; everything's
good, but I think that it will start growing. And that's a good thing. I like
to see the excitement build from now, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. I like to
see the excitement build to what we'll do on Sunday," said Munchak.
The Titans want their
preseason performance to carry over now that all the games count. Tennessee gave up the fewest quarterback
sacks, led the NFL with eight interceptions and topped the AFC in fewest points
allowed. Darius Reynaud, the replacement for former Pro Bowl returner Marc
Mariani, led the AFC on punt returns.
Now everyone's record is
0-0, and the New England Patriots will be a completely different challenge in
the opener. Coach Mike Munchak said
Saturday that the production is something he hopes they can build off of, using
a confidence built in the team's approach and individual among players. He says
they had success in a lot of areas that were concerns after last season.
