Birth Rally Held On Labor Day

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Labor was the focus of a big rally at Centennial Park on Monday, specifically, women going into labor.

The "Improving birth: National Rally For Change" was held Monday afternoon. The rally was aimed at raising awareness for women and the options they have when giving birth. Organizers said it's important for women to know that traditional methods, including going to the hospital and being given drugs, aren't the only choices.

"To say that women have options besides going in for the induction at 40 weeks, besides laying the in bed and accepting drugs. They have lots of other options, besides even going to the hospital and we want women to learn more about those options," said Tracy Good, who attended the rally.

The rally was all part of a national movement in more than 100 cities across the country. The group promotes relaxation and massage techniques all meant to help make giving birth more comfortable and safe.
