COLUMBIA, Tenn. – Columbia Police said a woman shot and killed a man who broke into her home overnight.
Police responded to the home in the 1500 block of Highland Avenue around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, and found Thomas Moore deceased.
Police said Prudence Spencer and Terrance Hill told them Moore had forced his way inside Spencer's home and assaulted Hill. Spencer allegedly shot and killed Moore in Hill's defense.
Hill was taken to Maury Regional Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Spencer was not hurt.
Police said Spencer, Hill, and Moore knew each other, but the nature of their relationship was not known.
Police said preliminary evidence supports the statements made by Spencer and Hill. No charges have been filed at this time.
