NASHVILLE, Tenn.- On Friday, the Tennessee State Fair will open to the public. For ten days, all the sights, sounds and fun the state has to offer will be on display.
Thursday, crews spent the day getting the rides, food and other new additions ready for when the gates open. This year the state fair has some old favorites but will also have new features including an equestrian arena and more live music.
The Tennessee State Fair Association has already seen an increase in participation when compared to last year- they hope that translates to increased attendance.
"It's a way of getting to see what else the county has....come together and show what they do in their county. I love that," said Sandra Bush.
Questions loom about the future of the fair, will it continue to exist and will it remain at the fairgrounds in Nashville. Its future could depend on this year's attendance. After a decline last year this year attendees will be given a survey to find out how to keep them coming back.
