Visitation Held Friday For 16-Year-Old Cancer Patient

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Riverdale High School students will pay tribute to the life of 16-year-old Taylor Filorimo by wearing green Friday.

The La Vergne teen died Wednesday at Vanderbilt, after a three year fight with a rare form of cancer.

Her viewing will be held Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Saint Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Community on Bell Road.  A second viewing will be held Saturday morning from 9 to 11 a.m., with a mass immediately following.

After her diagnosis, Taylor took her story to the Internet to bring awareness to childhood cancer. The "Pray for Tay" tag went viral, and supporters all over the world sent words of encouragement.

A trust has been set up to help the Filorimo family with medical bills. If you would like to donate, go to http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/taytayfilorimo.
