NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Three men were arrested after police found they had brought a handgun onto the property of Hunters Lane High School.
Police arrested Anthony Pirtle, 22, Christopher L. Williams, 20, and Jamarin Coates, 20 just before 11 a.m. Friday. According to officers assigned to the school, the men were let into the building by a student, but were immediately stopped by an assistant principal.
When speaking to the men the principal searched the backpack they had brought with them to "blend in". Inside the bag the school officers found a loaded handgun. The men claimed they were unaware the gun was in the backpack and had come to the school to meet a friend for lunch.
Police charged Pirtle and Coates with carrying a gun on school property and criminal trespassing. Williams was charged with felon in possession of a weapon, carrying a gun on school property and criminal trespassing.
