Cause Of North Nashville Fire Under Investigation

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The fire marshal will investigate the cause of a fire at a north Nashville building on Monday morning.

A neighbor alerted authorities to the fire at the William Patton, Jr. Foundation in the 500 block of Fisk Street, near the intersection with Jo Johnston Avenue around 6:15 a.m. Monday.

Sky 5 HD showed heavy smoke billowing from the large building shortly after fire crews got on scene.

Fire investigators said the building was not occupied at the time of the fire. It is believed the fire started in an electrical panel, but the fire marshal will determine the exact cause of the fire.

As a result of the fire, some nearby power lines were frayed. The power was turned off to nearby buildings as they worked to control the blaze.

The foundation said they will continue their work helping the community by offering scholarships and work training for young men.
