MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Police said a 2-year-old Memphis boy who was struck by a car has died.

According to The Commercial Appeal, the incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Carl Oliver was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

Police said the boy ran onto the road between two vehicles and was struck by one of them.

The driver of that car, 45-year-old Sonja Morgan, was ticketed for failing to provide proof of insurance. WREG reported she is a distant family member of Oliver.

Police did not say if other charges would be filed.
