Rangers Investigating Shooting, Victim Was Hiking

GATLINBURG, Tenn. (AP) - Rangers from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park continue to investigate a shooting reported inside the park.

Sanford Lethco told rangers he was hiking off-trail in the Smokies near Cosby on Friday when two gunshots struck him in the lower right leg. The 29-year-old Lethco lives in Sevier County. He was airlifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center and released the next day.
