SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn.- A mid-state school employee has been arrested for stealing thousands of dollars from the school to pay her personal bills.

Penny Knight was the bookkeeper for Beech Elementary School in Sumner County. During an investigation through the state comptroller's office officials found Knight stole $20,000 from the school and used that money to pay off personal loans.

Knight no longer works for the Sumner County School District and was indicted by the county grand jury in April on two counts of theft, one count of money laundering and 19 counts of forgery.
