FRANKLIN, Tenn.- Franklin Police said a burglary suspect had been watching his neighbors and keeping a log of their movements before robbing them.
Police arrested 24-year-old Charles Mathis of Franklin Sunday afternoon. He was charged with attempted aggravated burglary and resisting. A couple called police after catching a man breaking into their Alara Brook apartment.
Officers searched the area, and found Mathis in a nearby apartment. When they searched him, they found a notebook containing notes on his neighbors like when they went to work, and even their car description.
"You find out someone is trying to break into your home, that's a surprise in itself. Then find out that person is actually a neighbor, that's another surprise. The discovery of the notebook that he's recording peoples coming and going that's disturbing," said Franklin Police Spokesperson Charlie Warner.
Mathis was due in court the end of September.
