UTC Switches To Silent Moment, Not Prayer At Games

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - The University of Tennessee-Chattanooga is ceasing spoken prayer before its football games.

According to the Chattanooga Times Free Press, UTC Chancellor Roger Brown announced on Monday that the university will observe a moment of silence, instead, effective immediately.

Brown said the university believes the change allows each person in attendance to reflect on personal beliefs.

The UTC Secular Student Alliance has protested the former policy of prayer before games.
