STRAWBERRY PLAINS, Tenn. (AP) - A Tennessee state trooper said a sport utility vehicle with four children inside rolled three times before striking a tree. Two of the children were killed in the crash east of Knoxville on Monday afternoon.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reported those killed were 6-year-old Jasmine Lane and 11-year-old Preston Lane, both of Jefferson City.
Trooper Barry Jarnagin's report stated 9-year-old Josh Lane and 8-year-old Collin Lane were injured as was the driver, 47-year-old Theresa A. Hackett of Jefferson City.
The trooper said the SUV's tires dropped off the edge of U.S. 11-E and Hackett overcorrected, losing control of the vehicle.
Jarnagin's report stated charges were pending. Everyone in the vehicle wore seat belts.
