JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) -- President Barack Obama visited a wounded Johnson City soldier during a tour of the Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C.
WJHL-TV reports the president spent about 10 minutes talking with Pfc. Marshall Lane on Tuesday.
Lane was shot on Aug. 13 by an Afghan national who was being trained by U.S. troops. Lane had been serving in Afghanistan as a medic with the Army's 549th Military Police.
Lane's wife, Amanda Lane, told the station that Obama gave her husband a business card and urged him to call if he ever had problems. The president also gave Lane a commemorative coin.
Amanda Lane said she hopes her husband will be transferred to a rehabilitation facility by the end of the week.
