NASHVILLE, Tenn. – On Wednesday, local officials officially opened the new Cane Ridge Elementary School.
Metro Council members who approved capital funding for the school, along with Mayor Karl Dean, were on hand for the ribbon cutting at the new building on Ashford Trace.
Cane Ridge is the fastest growing community in the city, but officials said it's not the only community in Nashville that's booming.
"We're pretty full. In some areas, we just don't have any room at all. A number of our projects are expansions, but I want to say, a big part of what we're doing also, is renovation. We're spending over $20 million on Stratford High School, for example," said director of schools, Dr. Jesse Register.
Students have been attending the 90,000 square foot, LEED certified school since August.
