RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn.- A Rutherford County mother has been charged with aggravated child abuse after her baby was born with drugs in its system.

Police said 21-year-old Emily Crum's baby was born seven weeks prematurely in July and at 2lbs, 13 ounces the baby was found to have illegal drugs in its bloodstream. According to officials, Crum took the painkiller Percocet, smoked marijuana and smoked one to two packs of cigarettes per day while pregnant.

"The baby spent nearly a month in the Neonatal Unit at Middle Tennessee Medical Center," said Rutherford County Detective Steve Craig.

The infant was placed in foster care with the Department of Children's Services.

Crum was taken to the Rutherford County Jail where a bond was set at $25,000.
