RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn.- In Rutherford County a babysitter has been charged after a boy she was watching bit a one-year-old child over 20 times.

Police said that 57-year-old Brenda Joyce Davis left the 4-year-old boy and one-year-old children alone for an undetermined period of time, and the 4-year-old seriously injured the toddler.

"She left two children unattended in her home where the 4-year-old, who has had behavioral issues in the past, proceeded to bite the 1-year-old in excess of 20 times on her back, buttocks, face, arms and legs," said arresting Detective Steve Craig.

Davis was charged with reckless endangerment and child abuse. During the investigation, multiple marijuana plants were also found in Davis' home, some in reach of the young children, the detective said.

"When questioned, Ms. Davis said she used the marijuana mainly for medicinal purposes when making hot tea," Craig said.

The toddler was treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and released to her parents.
