TSU Football Headed Back To Hale Stadium

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Saturday brings a big game day for Tennessee State University. For the first time in more than 10 years the team won't be at LP Field, they'll be back to their own field.

The last football game played on the campus of TSU was in 1998. Current student said they are very excited for the new stadium, but alumni said they have no idea what's in store. The opening of the stadium is part of the University's Centennial Celebration.

"My parents would tell me how together it used to be," said one student.

Alums and fans alike are literally gearing up at College Cribs to get ready for TSU to face off against Austin Peay at Hale Stadium, or the Hole as most call it. Back on campus, crews are also getting prepared. They're putting the final touches on the $1 million worth of renovations made to the facility. There are two new ticket booths, the bleachers got a fresh coat of paint, extra seating and a score board have been brought in.

While the facility looks much better administrators hope the game will bring back a feeling- one that generations fondly remember but so many have yet to experience.

Over 20,000 people are expected at Saturday's game. Kickoff was scheduled for 1 p.m.
