Seymour, Tenn.
SEYMOUR, Tenn.- A fiery
crash involving a church van claimed the life of two people in East Tennessee
Sunday morning.
The van filled with teenagers
was headed back from a weekend retreat when investigators say an SUV traveling
in the opposite direction crossed the center line and hit them head-on. The
crash sparked a fire that engulfed both vehicles. The two victims were trapped
in the van when it caught on fire. Some people passing by who saw the scene
wasted no time in trying to help.
"I was in there, and
I was yanking on him ‘cause he was stuck in the seatbelt, and his legs were
trapped, and I felt fire coming up the back of my shirt; it's probably burned.
And I got out of there because there was nothing I could do," said James
Settle.
Ten others were taken to
hospitals. Everyone on the bus was between the ages of 13 and 22.
