Electrical Short Leads To Hotel Evacuation

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- A local hotel was forced to evacuate Monday night, and guests were stuck out in the rain, after several residents noticed smoke in the building.

Fire officials were called to the Stadium Inn on Interstate Drive near downtown Nashville around 8 p.m. Crews said that they were called out due to reports of smoke on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the hotel. Around 50 hotel occupants were forced to evacuate the building as a safety precaution.

When officials investigated they determined that water had leaked into an electrical box on the 3rd floor and shorted the box out, creating some light smoke and setting off the hotel's smoke detectors.

No injuries were reported.
