New Fire Hall Opened In Madison

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Metro Firefighters and the Madison community are enjoying some much-needed upgrades to their local fire hall.

Mayor Karl Dean was on hand Tuesday for the fire department's official ribbon-cutting. The two-story fire station is located on Douglas Street in Madison and is now an energy efficient building.

The new $3.8 million project included upgrades like a geo-thermal air system and electric vehicle charging stations. There are also new showers, changing rooms, and locker facilities for both men and women. Mayor Dean said the city will continue to make some major investments in Madison when it comes to public safety.

"We opened the police precinct in January; we are completing the permanent precinct now. We are doing a crime lab in Madison and we just opened this fire hall. Madison is an important part of the city," said Dean.

The original fire hall was torn down, making room for the new structure which sits on the existing property.
