PERRY COUNTY, Tenn.- An attempt to stop a case of bullying has landed a teacher in hot water.
According to Perry County school officials, last week a Linden Elementary teacher allowed a parent to come into the classroom without first checking into the front office.
John Dowdy reportedly came to confront two students for bullying his daughter. When the accused students told the parent it was actually his daughter who started the bullying and the daughter confessed, witnesses said Dowdy slapped the girl and then yelled at the class.
The 4th grade teacher did not report the incident to school staff and was suspended for three days.Due to the school's policy the teacher's name has not been released.
Dowdy was later arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. He was released on $5,000 bond on the condition he stay away
from school until matter is solved in court.
