ANTIOCH, Tenn. – One person was killed in a shooting outside a Davidson County motel. The suspect has not been taken into custody.
The victim was shot around 10:30 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot of the Knights Inn on Bell Road just off Interstate 24 in Antioch. Police later identified the victim as 21-year-old Abanzer Tsegaye.
Officials said Tsegaye and a friend were at the location making a drug deal.
The two men were seen walking up to a car with two men inside and handing money to the suspects. Witnesses said one of the men then pulled out a black semi-automatic pistol and started firing, hitting the victim.
A passerby drove the Tsegaye to Southern Hills Medical Center about 5 miles away, where he died as a result of his injuries.
Investigators have asked anyone who was staying at the motel or passing by the area to call police with any information about the suspect.
"It's witnesses who see or hear something that doesn't sound right… that might be the key to solving this case. If they have any information it's of great assistance to police department if they can give us a call and give us that information," said Captain Kenneth Walburn with the Metro Nashville Police Department.
The suspects were seen driving away in a red Nissan Altima.
Witnesses described the suspect as a light-skinned black male about 20 year old. He was tall and thin and had balding or very short hair.
