HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn.- A man is in custody after police say he held a woman and her 11-year-old son hostage all night long on White Oak Court in Hendersonville.

Investigators say someone called 911 after finding a note and a key outside the door. The note said a woman and her son were inside and that police should be called because their captor had a knife. When police got there, they were able to talk to the victim through a second story window. She told them the man was right inside the door. Police entered and arrested Tod Thomen. They say he assaulted the woman and had been holding them hostage for at least eight hours.

The family did have an order of protection against Thomen.
