HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn.- Funeral services were held Saturday for a local couple killed in a plane crash.
Doctor Gary Cohen and his wife Nancy were flying back from vacation in Destin on Monday when their plane went down just north of Birmingham. Doctor Gary Cohen posted a photo from Destin, Fla. on Facebook over the weekend, but Monday while flying a 1989 Mooney aircraft the couple crashed in Cullman County.
The FAA and NTSB are investigating the crash, but initial reports show Cohen was in contact with air traffic control in Atlanta and sent a "mayday" because of the bad weather.
Nancy worked as a pharmacist at Gallatin's Perkins Drugs & Gift Shoppe. Gary was a well-known orthodontist at Smile Construction in Sumner County.
The Cohens were active members at First Baptist Church Hendersonville.
