NASHVILLE, Tenn.- It was a
busy day in downtown Nashville Saturday. Thousands of women came to town for
the 3rd Annual Women's Half Marathon.
Five thousand people were
registered to run the 13.1 mile course that wound its way around downtown
Nashville, starting and ending in front of the Country Music Hall of Fame. This
is the third year Nashville has hosted a women's half marathon.
"Really what the event is
about is having a girl's weekend. So yes, people come for the race, but they
stay because of the night life here and how much fun it is in Nashville," said Dawna
Stone, founder of the Women's Marathon Series. "So you'll see women from all 50
states coming out grabbing their girlfriends for a good time, and hopefully having
a big smile on their face when they cross that finish line."
The race is called the
"Women's Half Marathon," but also several men took part as well.
