CADIZ, Ky. (AP) - Two people from North Carolina were killed when their tractor-trailer ran off the road and into a stand of trees on Interstate 24 near Cadiz in western Kentucky.
Kentucky State Police said they are unsure whether 34-year-old Joseph A. Robinson of Wendell, N.C., or 55-year-old Larry D. Artis of Wilson, N.C. was driving the truck when it ran off the road at about 10:14 p.m. CDT Sunday.
Trooper Jay Thomas said investigators aren't sure if the men were wearing seatbelts.
Kentucky State Police say debris from the crash spread along such a wide area, prompting an accident reconstruction team to wait for daylight Monday.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd said westbound lanes will be restricted until at least 5:30 p.m. CDT at crash site near mile marker 61.
Officials said they are working to move some cattle in a field near the crash site because there is concern they may make their way through a hole in the fence onto the interstate.
