MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Police in Rutherford County have been investigating reports of an attempted abduction after a group of ten children said a man told them to get in his car.

Christa Waggoner told police the children were playing in her yard off of Rambush Drive around 7 p.m. Sunday when suddenly she heard the kids screaming and run into her garage.

They said the man frightened them when he drove up and told them to get in his vehicle. Her 5th grade son was among the children confronted by the man.

"The car pulled up at the stop sign and just said 'get in!' That's when my kid started running back to the house," she said.

Waggoner said she didn't see the man, but all the children were spooked.

"I mean, I had ten little kids in my driveway all scared to death, trying to get out the same story but just couldn't really get anything because they're all so scared," Waggoner said.

Police believed the man was driving a silver sedan and may have been wearing a red hooded sweatshirt with the number 9 on the front.

"I don't' take anything lightly, that's my kid and everybody else's kid that plays here," Waggoner said. "I'm just concerned that there is a predator out there."

Officials with the Murfreesboro Police Department said there was another report of an attempted abduction about 10 miles away on Chariot Drive around the same time Sunday night.

Police were investigating both cases but weren't sure if they were connected.

Anyone with information should contact the Murfreesboro Police Department at 615-849-2670.
