UT Fraternity Suspended After Student Hospitalized

Posted: Updated:

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A fraternity at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville has been suspended while campus police investigate an alcohol-related incident that left one student in critical condition at the hospital.

According to a UT police department incident report obtained by The Knoxville News Sentinel, an unresponsive 20-year-old man was brought into the UT Medical Center early Saturday.

The report states that the victim appeared to be "extremely intoxicated and showed signs of physical and sexual assault." Investigators later determined that the student had received an alcohol enema at the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity house, located on campus.

University spokeswoman Karen Ann Simsen said the fraternity has been suspended for 30 days, pending a decision regarding its permanent status by Pi Kappa Alpha International.
