CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - A family heirloom has been stolen from the driveway of a Clarksville home, leaving the owner looking for answers.
Police said a 1986 Chevy Silverado pickup truck was taken from a home on Edmonson Ferry Road early Saturday morning. For the owners, this was a very special pickup truck.
"It's more than a truck to us," said owner Blakely Fredrick. "There are so many memories in this truck, and so much money and hard work. You can't get that back."
The truck had been passed down through two generations, and was reserved for the next generation, Fredrick's 8-year-old son Braedyn.
Fredrick's boyfriend, Waylon Greenup, has committed 8 years and more than $60,000 to fix up the truck. He has done everything from repainting, to adding customized interior features.
Fredrick thinks the thieves targeted the truck for its parts, but then ended up liking it.
"The truck really isn't worth tearing apart and selling it because it is so old," said Fredrick. "I think they liked the way it looked."
Braedyn was equally upset to find out his future truck is now gone.
"Even if they took it," he said, "if they bring it back, I won't be mad anymore."
Anyone with information should contact Clarksville-Montgomery County Crime Stoppers at 931-645-TIPS. A $1,000 cash reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
