Maury Co. Teens Charged With Criminal Impersonation

Posted: Updated:

MAURY COUNTY, Tenn.- Two Maury County teens decided to play a prank using a smart phone app to impersonate law enforcement officers and ended up in jail.

Police say 19-year old Tucker Shields and Jake Randall, along with an unnamed 17-year old used a smart phone application that flashes bright blue and red lights on the phone's screen and emits a siren to conduct a fake traffic stop.

An off-duty Columbia Police sergeant on his way to work saw the flashing lights coming from the car and stopped to check it out. That stop led to the arrests of Shields and Randall. The 17-year-old was not charged.

Shields and Randall were both charged with criminal impersonation.
