CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- The mother of a toddler who shot himself in the stomach has been charged by Clarksville Police.
Officials said 22-year-old Lisa Evans was charged with aggravated child abuse and neglect after her 3-year-old son accidentally shot himself earlier this month. Evans told police that she left her .380 pistol on the couch and then turned away for a second and heard a gunshot. She then said she turned around to see the boy holding his abdomen and crying.
The child remains at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in the ICU. Officials said he was listed in stable condition and has been receiving physical therapy for his injuries.
Evans was booked into the Montgomery County Jail Tuesday and was being held on a $5,000 bond.
