Child Playing With Matches Starts House Fire

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Fire officials said a child playing with matches started a home in Inglewood to catch fire.

Police said that firefighters were called to a home in the 1600 block of Lethia Drive, just off Rosebank Avenue around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to officials, a 5-year-old child was playing with matches under a bed inside the house when the bed caught fire.

No one noticed the smoke until the boy called for help.

There were five people home at the time of the fire, but everyone was able to escape the fire without injury.

The Red Cross assisted the family with finding a place to stay.
