NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police said three masked men robbed two restaurants in south Nashville overnight.
Surveillance video showed the men first entered Tacos Lopez Mexican restaurant on Murfreesboro Pike around midnight, wearing masks, and armed with at least one pistol.
There were patrons eating inside when the robbers threatened employees, demanded cash and stole cell phones before fleeing the scene.
Around 1:30 a.m., police said the same men, wearing masks again, went through the back entrance of Horus Restaurant on Murfreesboro Pike, broke the cash register and stole cash. They also smashed the landline phones so that no one could call police.
There were patrons on the outside patio, who said they heard a commotion, but did not know what happened until it was over.
"It's just scary to know that someone was in the building right next to you with a gun," said patron Karen Hamm.
The surveillance video showed the three men smoking cigarettes outside one of the restaurants, without masks, prior to the robbery. During the robberies, police said one robber wore a Punisher mask, another wore a wrestling mask, and the third had a purple bandanna over his face.
No one was hurt in either robbery.
An employee at Horus told NewsChannel 5 a similar robbery happened at the restaurant six months ago when two masked men held up the restaurant armed with knives. It is not known whether the crimes were connected.
No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
