NASHVILLE, Tenn.- A 16-year-old Hunters Lane High School student has been arrested after police found a loaded gun in his backpack.

Officials said the11th grader was carrying a loaded nine millimeter semi-automatic pistol in his backpack. According to police the gun was found after two students were removed from class Friday morning for playing a dice game. The assistant principal found the gun while searching the student's backpack.

The teen told police that he had found the gun in a ditch on his way to school that morning and intended to sell it. Police said the same weapon was reported stolen from a vehicle in West Nashville in October 2011.

The teen's name was not released.
