Election Officials Blame Inaccurate Programming for Voting Problems

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Davidson County election officials now say recent problems with electronic voting machines were caused by inaccurate programming.

An investigation was launched after several Democrats said they were given Republican ballots in the last primary.

Election Commissioner Steve Abernathy says the vendor programmed the poll books for a closed primary instead of an open one. The software has been changed to prevent the problem from happening again. Even so, the election commission will not use the electronic machines in November's election.
