Ex-Husband Charged In Woman’s Beating Death

Posted: Updated:

PLEASANT VIEW, Tenn.- Officials have charged the ex-husband of a woman found beaten to death inside her home in Cheatham County.

On Tuesday, 42-year-old David Monk, was indicted with first degree murder and theft of property. He had previously been taken into custody Thursday night in Springfield in Robertson County for public intoxication. At the time, Police said he was in possession of 57-year-old Donna Bandy's stolen car. Police believe he stole Bandy's car not long after her death and took it to Springfield where he was spotted wearing clothes covered in blood.

Bandy was found beaten to death inside a closet of her home in the 2600 block of Goodsprings Road around 8 a.m. Friday after family members asked police to do a welfare check because they had not heard from her in a few days.

Bandy and Monk had recently divorced.

Monk was being held in the Cheatham County Jail on a $1 million bond. He was scheduled to be in court October 9, 2012.
