Teen In Jail After Stealing Fundraiser Jar

COOKEVILLE, Tenn.- A Putnam County teenager remains in jail after a wild weekend.

Cookeville Police booked 18-year-old Dakota Byers on multiple charges last Friday. Officials said that Byers snatched a fundraiser jar from the counter at the Mid-Tennessee Truck Plaza, on Salem Road.

When officers caught up to him, he sped away. Byers eventually crashed his truck in a yard on West Oak Drive. He then tried to run and fight off officers.

He faces charges of theft, evading arrest and driving without a license.
