MT. JULIET, Tenn. – Fire crews have extinguished a fire at an elementary school Mt. Juliet.

Officials said a container of tar on the roof of Rutland Elementary on South Rutland Road caught fire just before 6:30 a.m. Firefighters were able to knock it down quickly.

School officials said construction on the roof has been ongoing for a couple of weeks. Sky 5 HD showed firefighters on the roof with smoke coming from the container.

No children were inside the school, since they are on Fall break. However, some students were being dropped off for Fall camp after the fire was put out.

There was no major structural damage to the building. The cause of the fire was not immediately released.
