NASHVILLE, Tenn.- One of the state's leading Democrats says he's considering an apology, after an eyebrow-raising comment at a weekend meeting that some called racist.
State Representative Mike Turner told the party's executive committee "We've got a president up here whose color is not the right shade according to a lot of people, and they just hate him for that reason."
State GOP Chairman Chris Devaney demanded an apology, and now, Turner has said quote:
"I'm contemplating it. He asked me to apologize two years ago. I'm still contemplating that one, too."
Turner went on to say he was speaking of some Republicans and their opposition to the President. He said Devaney was overreacting and that he quote "evidently has a guilty conscience."
