Memorial Honors Victims of Domestic Violence

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn.-  Members of the Nashville community gathered on the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge Saturday morning to remember those who have died  at the hands of a loved one.

Representatives from the office of the Davidson County District Attorney General and the Nashville Coalition Against Domestic Violence held a memorial event this weekend. "Meet Us at the Bridge" brought attention to the impact domestic violence has on the community.

There was also an award ceremony for members of law enforcement and local government who have made a difference in the lives of domestic violence victims.

"I think it's very important for us to come and show that we're at one with the community," said Metro Police Officer Michael Buchanan. "We need to come together and try to prevent and stop it."

October is Domestic Violence Awareness month.
