NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A man drove himself to the hospital after being shot in the stomach while leaving a North Nashville night club.
Metro Police responded to a call of shots fired at One Brew Sports Bar at the corner of Jefferson Street and 26th Avenue North around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. When officers arrived they did not find a victim. They discovered a short time later that a man shot in the stomach drove himself to the hospital.
Police said the victim was in the parking lot of the nightclub about to leave when someone approached him and shot him in the stomach. He then drove himself to Metro General Hospital.
While the victim was being stabilized, officers searched his vehicle outside the hospital looking for evidence that might help them find the shooter. Police do not have anyone in custody and is asking for the public's help to find the person responsible.
"There's a lot of people who live around this area and they know, they've probably seen something or heard something. If they have, they can provide that information, they can do it anonymously by calling North Precinct or Crime Stoppers," said Captain Kenneth Walburn of Metro Police.
The number for Crime Stoppers is 74-CRIME. Callers are eligible to receive a cash reward if the information given leads to an arrest or grand jury indictment of a felony offender.
The shooting victim was transferred to Vanderbilt Medical Center after being stabilized at Metro General. Officials said he had surgery and is in critical but stable condition.
