Suspect Fatally Wounded, Deputy Injured In Cumberland Co.

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. - A police shooting on the Cumberland Plateau has left a suspect dead and a deputy wounded.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said Deputy Jonathan Human responded to a trespassing call on Spooner Drive in Mayland on Sunday night.

Deputy Human was trying to arrest 41-year-old David Lee Fish, when an altercation broke out. He opened fire, fatally shooting Fish.

Deputy Human was treated and released from Cumberland Medical Center for injuries sustained in the altercation.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation will review the incident. Deputy Human was placed on administrative leave with pay while the investigation is ongoing.
