NASHVILLE,
Tenn.- Officials with the Metro Public Health Department said several newly collected
batches of mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile
virus.
The new batches were caught in Antioch near
the intersection of Bell Road and Murfreesboro Road.
Additional batches of mosquitoes
with West Nile virus were caught in Antioch,
Goodlettsville, Hermitage, Madison, North Nashville, and South Nashville.
Officials
said that staffers at the Health
Department's Pest Management have increased trapping efforts in the affected
areas and will continue to treat standing water with larvicide when mosquito
larvae are present.
