CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- A anonymous tip led to the recovery of at $3,000 monkey stolen during a home burglary in Clarksville.
Officials said that a tip came into the Petersburg Police on Monday afternoon that the missing monkey could be in Pulaski, Tenn. After local officers received a photo of the animal they spoke to the residents who had the monkey in their possession.
The monkey was stolen from a home on Denny Road in Clarksville last month. Officials said that someone broke into Douglas Jackson and Amber Bradley's mobile home and took their Marmoset monkey. No other property from the home was stolen during the burglary
The couple told police that they had purchased the monkey from a Nashville man for $500. Police said it appeared that the animal had been shaved, possibly to alter its appearance. Owner, Douglas Jackson drove down to the Petersburg Police Department and was able to positively identify the animal as his own.
