NASHVILLE, Tenn.- On Tuesday, Belmont University kicked off its first ever Peace Slam rally.
Students from 14 local middle schools and high schools attended the event. The school has also partnering up with a noble peace prize winner to help mentor young students
This year's laureate was Iranian-born Shirin Ebadi. She plans to work with kids during a conference in January called Peace Jam.
"We're hoping that they take away just a little bit of inspiration that they're learning all about these noble laureates and the work that they've done all around the word, and that they can make some of these changes right here at home," said Melanie Scott, the Program Director at STARS.
Peace Jam will take place January 25 through the 27th.
